A new benefit of the Nintendo Wii…
I remember the first time I played a game on Nintendo Wii. It was right when it came out and a group of my guy friends that are really into golf became immediately intrigued with the golf game (I don’t know the exact name, and really don’t know a lot about the wii, forgive me). They insisted I try it and I was immediately hooked. Then I tried one of the boxing games and actually got a bit of a workout.
So aside from being a competitive nintendo system, the Wii provides more physical effort than the regular game systems. Although Nintendo never marketed the physical aspect of the Wii, it has been proved valuable as an assistance in rehabilitation.
Individuals taking part in physical therapy are beginning to play as part of rehabilitation. It’s been discovered that through playing, they are going through motions similar to those in therapy but they are able to focus on the competitive aspect which directs their attention to the game rather than the pain. Physical therapy is never easy, but now patients can take part in a fun, competitive game, while improving their physical health.
This link explains a bit more about the benefits of the Nintendo Wii in physical rehabilitation.
